Sister Elizabeth of the Trinity, Clothed in the Habit of Carmel
October 1, 2014, Solemnity of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, was a time of special grace and joy for our Community as we solemnly celebrated the Clothing of our postulant, Anna (Hiep) Le, and her admission into religious life.
Anna Le, born and reared in Vietnam, and blessed with the gift of a loving home life, rooted deeply in the Catholic faith, entered our Community of Mary, Mother of Grace, last year on October 7, 2013, feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. In a letter written from her parents, they said that they considered their daughter’s vocation to Carmel (even though she has gone “to the other ends of the earth” physically) as the greatest blessing and an honor for her family, not a sacrifice. Certainly they did make a “sacrifice” in offering their beloved daughter to God, yet given in love and in confidence; they have been blessed a hundredfold in return.
After a year of formation and introduction into the life of Carmel, Anna was Clothed in the Habit of our Order on the Solemnity of St. Therese, in whose missionary spirit she lives. She was given the name Sister Elizabeth of the Trinity, our Carmelite saint whose contemplative spirit she imbibes and a model of life she wishes to imitate.
The Clothing of our new Novice was a joyous occasion for us all, her Sisters, who have watched her grow and take to heart the spirit Carmel, especially our Holy Parents, St. Teresa of Jesus and St. John of the Cross, with earnest determination. We pray that this new “little flower” in the garden of Lafayette Carmel may continue to bloom for the “praise of His glory”!
