O incomprehensible Wisdom! O my God and my Mercy! What shall I do so as not to undo the great things You’ve done for me? Your works are holy, they are just, they are done with great wisdom, since You, Lord, are wisdom itself. The intellect cannot reach the sublime grandeurs of its God.

O souls, understand and see that it is possible for God to humble Himself so much. Set your eyes on Christ, our Good: there we shall learn true humility. By gazing at His grandeur, we get in touch with our own lowliness; by looking at His purity, we shall see our own filth; by pondering His humility, we shall see how far we are from being humble.

O my Hope, my Father, my Creator, and my true Lord and Brother! That voice that was heard at the Baptism says You delight in Your Son. O my soul: Consider the great delight and great love the Father has in knowing His Son and the Son in knowing His Father; and the enkindling love with which the Holy Spirit is joined with them; and how no one of them is able to be separate from this love and knowledge, because they are one. These sovereign Persons know each other, love each other, and delight in each other.

Rejoice in considering what a great Lord and God we have. Oh, my Jesus, how great is the love You bear the children of the earth.

It seems we’ve forgotten Your grandeurs and mercies and how You’ve come into the world of sinners and have purchased us for so great a price. Children of the earth, how long will you be hard of heart and keep your hearts opposed to this most meek Jesus? O God of my soul, how we hasten to offend You and how You hasten even more to pardon us! My soul is determined to please You always. O Life, who gives life to all!
