Spirituality

Consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our devoted Guild Sponsors gather at our Monastery each First Saturday of the month, fulfilling the requests of Our Lady of Fatima. A rosary is prayed together at 6 AM followed by 6:30 AM Mass celebrated by a guest priest. Devotions and spiritual sharing follow the Mass and the Guild Men who are able offer their services to assist with yard work and monastery maintenance.

Mission

"Rise up, O Sons of Mary! Rise up and do your part! Prepare with sacrifice and love the triumph of her Heart!" Our Guild Men are dedicated to proclaiming and living out our faith. Carmel shares the spiritual treasure of it's loving devotion to Jesus and Mary. Their love and dedication to the monastery are an expression of their love and devotion to their daughters of Carmel.

History

In 1936 the Carmelite Nuns made the foundation in Lafayette at the invitation of Bishop Jules Jeanmard, the first bishop of Lafayette. On December 8, 1950 the Carmelite Guild was founded and the "Twelve Apostles" forged their new bond of spiritual and temporal support to the life and mission of the Carmelites here in the heart of Acadiana.
