Sr. Bernadette – First Profession – April 9, 2018

With joy and gladness on April 9th, the feast of the Annunciation transferred, our Extern-Novice Sr. Bernadette of the Immaculate Conception made her First Profession of Religious Vows in the presence of our Community.  During the Solemn chanting of the Divine Office we sang: “Behold, I am your handmaid. Be it done to me according to your word.” So too did our Sr. Bernadette echo the fiat of the Blessed Virgin Mary as she professed three vows of chastity, poverty and obedience and a life of allegiance to Jesus Christ in the spirit of Carmel.  Through them she will, like Mary, forever cling to God in faith, hope and love. Before Mother Regina received Sr. Bernadette’s vows she gave a short but beautiful exhortation:

My Beloved Sr. Bernadette,

You are about to enter into the deepest and sweetest Mystery of your life…. Jesus, His Mother and the whole Church are depending on your YES to Jesus to be His Bride and to share His Mission of redeeming all whom the Father has entrusted to Him and whom He wishes to entrust to you. All depends on your YES, your living faithfully with Our Lady a life of total allegiance to Her Son!

You have no idea how many are depending on you but you are not alone as Our Lady calls you to the Living Waters of her Grace and Mercy. She asks you to plunge into its streams and springs and so become a fountain of living waters for the multitude who, with Jesus are bending low to hear your complete and free response to His desire for you to be His bride – not for 3 years but forever!
