On Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM Sr. Elizabeth of the Trinity made her Solemn Profession of Religious Vows as a Discalced Carmelite Nun in the Monastery Chapel of Mary, Mother of Grace. Bishop Douglas Deshotel was Main Celebrant at the Eucharistic Liturgy of Religious Profession. The homilist was Fr. Daniel Chowning, O.C.D. of the Washington Province of Discalced Carmelite Friars who currently serves as a Definitor in Rome for the worldwide Discalced Carmelite Order. Concelebrating were Fr. Joseph Nguyen Binh, O.C.D., Fr. Marion Joseph Bui, O.C.D., Fr. Gregory Ross, O.C.D., and Fr. Conley Bertrand. Special guests included Mother Mary-Ange Nguyen, O.C.D. and Sr. Mary Rose Nguyen, O.C.D. from the Carmel in Hue, Vietnam who assisted Mother Regina Mullins in veiling and crowning Sr. Elizabeth during the Profession Ceremony. It was a glorious occasion of grace to witness the Solemn Consecration of another young Sister of our Community. May God be praised!

“To be the Bride of Christ, espoused to Him forever through my Solemn Vows is the greatest grace I could ever desire in this life, and thus to become a mother of souls,” Sr. Elizabeth stated. Like her patroness, Sr. Elizabeth sees her vocation as becoming, in the words of St. Paul, “a praise of glory”:

A praise of glory is a soul that gazes on God in faith and simplicity; it is a reflector of all that He is. . . In the heaven of her soul, the praise of glory has already begun her work of eternity. . . she always sings, she always adores, for she has, so to speak, wholly passed into praise and love in her passion for the glory of God” (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, Heaven in Faith #43-44).
